Counseling for Young Women in Birmingham
You can love them and still have questions.
I've met a lot of you before. The easygoing one. The fixer. The person who says 'it's fine' while collecting a hundred things that aren't. Therapy is a place to set those things down and figure out what you need.
Let's talk about getting started
When relationships feel complicated
- Relationship anxiety: replaying conversations, looking for reassurance, or worrying about where you stand.
- People-pleasing and boundaries: saying yes before checking in with yourself, then feeling guilty when you need something different.
- Breakups and uncertainty: grieving what you hoped for, deciding what comes next, or learning who you are outside a relationship.
- Broken trust: making room for hurt, questions, and your own pace after betrayal.
You do not need your partner to attend, a decision about staying or leaving, or a perfectly organized explanation. We can begin with what life feels like right now.
What working together looks like
I'm Victoria Coates, MA, ALC. I practice under the supervision of David Murphree, MA, LPC-S. My approach draws from ACT, IFS, DBT, and solution-focused therapy. In everyday terms, we will explore the patterns that helped you cope, practice ways to manage overwhelming feelings, and make choices that reflect your values.
Our first session is a chance to get acquainted, talk about your concerns, and begin shaping goals together. There is room for questions, a little humor, and an unfinished thought. Coffee or tea, too.
